Split pea dal

jonathanluizbosch @cook_3449208
a Brit living in Geneva, I have noticed the distinct lack of decent Indian restaurants, which we are so spoiled with in the UK. I had to come up with a decent home made curry, which is now tested a few times on myself and a few friends. Also recently started cooking vegetarian!
Cooking Instructions
- 1
finely chop onion and garlic and finely grate finger of ginger
- 2
heat oil in large pan and brown the onion. add the garlic, ginger, chilli and spices and brown for 2 minutes
- 3
rinse the split peas well and check for stones
- 4
add can if tomatoes, stock and split peas
- 5
leave to cook on a low heat for at least 45 minutes stirring occasionally
- 6
serve with naan and mango chutney

Dal with Split Peas (pressure cooker)
Bought yellow split mung bean/split peas, thinking to make some sweet dessert (tau suan) or ang ku kueh (kueh is a malay/indonesian word for cake) with it but so so lazy 😂 so kept it for quite some time in the storage drawer. But recently, I am more aware of the food i eat. Try to reduce sugary food/dessert or sweet treats and finally decided to make this dal. High in protein, and i guess it is much healthier than sweet kue/desserts i originally planned to make :) very fast and easy to make and tastes really yummy too!Recipe is taken from: https://www.platingsandpairings.com/instant-pot-dal/

Palak Dal
#greenveg - This is a simple homemade-style Palak Dal (spinach lentil) that is popular in most of the regions of India but with slight variations in the method of cooking and in the choice of ingredients. Today I bring to you the South Indian version.Whatever way this dal-spinach combo is cooked, it simply tastes yummy. It is equally healthy and nutritious as it is loaded with iron and proteins which is very essential for a well balanced diet. Enjoy it with rice or chapatis for a satisfying and a wholesome meal.

Spinach Dal Curry
The taste of the curry varies according to the type of spinach used. I like the taste of green spinach, so I used it. You can use your favourite one. Be sure to add it only after the dal is completely cooked. You can eat it with rice, roti or even bread (not sweet bread).
