Ingredients

  1. For a 8 inch skillet:
  2. 1 CupSelf Rising Cornmeal
  3. 1Large Egg
  4. 3/4 cupMilk or buttermilk
  5. 1/2 cupSugar
  6. 3 TablespoonCrisco vegetable oil
  7. For a 12 inch skillet increase ingredients:
  8. 2 cupscornmeal
  9. 2eggs
  10. 1 1/2 cupsmilk or buttermilk
  11. 1 cupsugar
  12. 4 tablespoonsCrisco pure vegetable oil

Cooking Instructions

    Pour oil in an 8 (or 12)inch iron skillet and place in oven at 400 degrees until oil sizzles.

    Mix cornmeal, egg, milk and sugar in bowl. Pour hot oil over cornmeal mixture, stirring lightly and return to skillet.

    Bake in 400 degrees oven until golden brown. About 30 minutes.
