Ingredients

15 -20mins.
3-4 servings
  1. 1/2 cuppigeon pea gram (tuwar dal)soaked
  2. 1onion chopped (sliced)
  3. 1-2tomatoes chopped
  4. 2green chilles chopped /slit
  5. 2-3 tbspoil/butter
  6. 1/2 tspcumin seeds
  7. 1/2 tspmustard seeds
  8. pinchhing
  9. 1/2 inchginger grated
  10. 100 gmfenugreek leaves chopped
  11. 1/4 tspgaram masala powder
  12. 1/4 tspturmeric powder
  13. 1/2 tspred chilli powder
  14. to tastesalt
  15. handfulfresh coriander chopped

Cooking Instructions

15 -20mins.

    First in a pressure cooker add soaked dal and pressure cook for 2-3 whistles.let the pressure release by itself.

    In a pan heat oil, once oil heats add cumin seeds, mustard seeds and hing.let them crackle then add onion and saute for 2 -3 mins until it change it colour slightly.add ginger and saute for a min.

    Add chopped tomatoes, green chillies and salt.cover it and cook for few mins.on low to medium heat until tomatoes gets soft.

    Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder stir well.add chopped fenugreek leaves and saute well.cook for few mins.then add boiled dal and mix well.

    Add required water and cook for few more minutes.add garam masala powder and fresh coriander mix well and switch off the heat.

    Methi dal tadka is ready to serve.serve with roti or with rice.
