Cooking Instructions

Mix wheat flour and coarse wheat flour. Add salt, cumin seeds, carom seeds, baking soda and curd. Mix well. Add ghee and mix well. Knead little soft dough with enough water. Cover with lid and rest for 30-40 minutes.

Then make equal size balls and press with palm. (Give shape just like tikkis).

In a vessel heat enough water and allow it to boil. When it comes to boil add prepared batis. Within 3-4 minutes they float on the surface. Cover with lid and cook for 10-12 minutes. Then transfer batis into plate. Allow it to cool down at room temperature.

In a pan or kadai heat enough ghee or oil. Add batis and shallow fry both sides on low flame until golden brown and crisp. It takes around 15-20 minutes. Baflabati is ready. Serve with dal.

Wash and soak tuvar dal in water for 15-20 minutes. Then cook in pressure cooker with enough water. In a pan heat oil. Add cumin seeds. Add chopped tomato and ginger paste. Saute till oil seperates. Add cooked dal and required amount of water. Add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and garam masala powder. Mix well. Cook for 5-7 minutes. Dal is ready.

In a bowl pour dal. Put batis and apply Ghee on it. Apply chopped tomatoes and coriander leaves. If you like add red garlic chutney. Enjoy.
