Ingredients

4 servings
  1. 2 cupsbeet root (steam cooked and grated)
  2. 1/4 cupred cabbage (shredded)
  3. 1/4 cupgreen bell pepper (finely chopped)
  4. 1/4 cupred onion (finely chopped)
  5. 2 tspginger (grated)
  6. 2 tbspcilantro (finely chopped)
  7. 1 tspgreen chilies (finely chopped)
  8. 1/2 cuprice flour
  9. 1/2 cupchick pea flour
  10. 1 tspbaking soda
  11. 1 pinchasafetida
  12. to tasteSalt
  13. 1 tspcumin seeds
  14. 1 tspmustard seeds
  15. 1/2 tspturmeric powder
  16. as neededSesame seed oil

Cooking Instructions

    Using your fingers, mix all ingredients (except the spices and oil) in a bowl. Use a heavy saucepan or a skillet for cooking the patties. Make patties, place them on a greased skillet, drizzle a few drops of oil over the patties. Cook covered over low heat, about 5 minutes, turn over, cook the other side, about 5 minutes. Remove when done; serve hot or at room temperature. You may top the patties with shredded cheese.
