Ingredients

  • 1 cupwheat flour
  • as requiredWater
  • as per tasteSalt
  • 1/2 cupchana dal
  • 1green chilli
  • 1/2 inchginger
  • 1/2 teaspoonjeera
  • 1/2 teaspoonmustard seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoonsaunf/ fennel seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoonturmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoonchilli powder
  • 1 teaspoonamchur powder
  • 1/2 teaspoondhaniya powder
  • 1/2 teaspoonhing
  • as requiredCoriander and pudina for garnish
  • as per tasteSalt for chanadhal

Steps

  1. 1

    Soak the dal for 6 hours, drain water add it in mixy jar with green chilli ginger jeera hing and grind once then add very little chilli powder amchur salt and dhaniya powder and grind again. Now add turmeric powder and rest of chilli powder and mix well keep aside.

    Now roll one ball like a puri and stuff the dal in the middle and fold it. Now with a fork seal all the sides.

    Boil enough water with a drop of oil.

    Add all the farre/ fara to boiling water it will sink first then once cooked will start floating. Take all out in perforated tray and cook.

    Cut to one inch pieces and keep aside.

    Now add oil in pan, heat it add jeera, saunf,curry leaves and hing. Let it splutter then add the farre /fara add a dash of chilli powder and amchur powder and sauté it till it’s crisp.

    Garnish with coriander and pudina and serve with sauce or green chutney.
