Ingredients

16cm pan
  • Streusel
  • 220 gplain flour
  • 80 galmond flour
  • 105 gcastor sugar
  • 150 gunsalted butter, cold
  • 1 1/2 tspcinnamon powder
  • Filling
  • 10 gwalnuts, chopped
  • 1 tbsplemon juice
  • 30 gmaple syrup
  • 15 gCastor sugar
  • 3large green apples
  • 3 tspcinnamon powder
  • 2 slicesbutter
  • Notes
  • 1large apple : 10g maple syrup : 5g castor sugar

Steps

  1. 1

    Sift plain flour, cinnamon powder and almond flour in a bowl. Mix in the sugar until evenly distributed.

  2. 2

    Add in cubes of cold butter. Crush the butter and rub the dry ingredients with your hands. Stop once it forms small grains of flour, butter and sugar. Place the streusel in the fridge.

    Preheat the oven 180c. Generously butter the 16cm x 16cm pan.

  4. 4

    Peel and cut the apples 1-cm thick. In a saucepan, melt the butter and add all the apple filling ingredients. Boil it down until most of the excess moisture is vaporized. Remove the apple filling from the stove and let it cool.

  5. 5

    Pour half the streusel in the pan and lightly press. Add in the apple filing. Sprinkle the walnut on top of filling. Cover the top with the rest of the streusel.

    Bake at 180c for 40mins.
