Ingredients

6 servings
  1. 200 gramwhole green moong dal
  2. 2onion finely chopped
  3. 2tomatoes finely chopped
  4. 1 tspgreen chilli finely chopped
  5. 2 tspfinely chopped garlic
  6. 1.5 tbsppure ghee
  7. 1 tspcumin
  8. 1.5 tspred Kashmiri chilli powder
  9. 1 tspfinely chopped ginger
  10. 1 tspred Kashmiri chilli powder
  11. Pinchasafotida
  12. 1 tspturmeric powder
  13. To tastesalt
  14. As required water

Cooking Instructions

    Soak lentil in a water for overnight and drain it.

    Put in it pressure cooker,turmeric powder, as required water along with to taste salt.

    Pressure cook up 3 whistles then turn off the low heat again cook for it 5 min.

    Let it cool down completely then open the lid and mash lentil against the side of the cooker keep it aside.

    Heat ghee (reserve 2tsp ghee) in a frying pan.

    Add cumin, ginger, green chili, garlic saute it for 1 min on medium heat.

    Add chopped onion saute it for 5 minutes on medium flame.

    Add tomatoes, some salt mix it properly again saute till 3or 4 min. then add cooked dal and simmer for 1 to 2 min on medium flame.

    Heat the tdka pan with remaining ghee add asafotida and red Kashmiri chili powder now turn off the flame immediately and pour the tdka over cooked dal.

    Now it is done you can serve with chapati or steamed rice.
