Ingredients

10-12 people
  • 1.5 kgboneless beef
  • 1 cupoil
  • 1 teaspoonblack peppers
  • 1black cardamon
  • 4-5green cardamons
  • 2 inchespiece of cinnamon stick
  • 8-9 piecescloves
  • 6 pieceslong peppercorns (pipli)
  • 2 piecesmace (jawatri)
  • 1/4 piecenutmeg (Jaefil)
  • 1 piecestar anise
  • 1 tablespoonfunnel seeds (sonf)
  • 1 tablespooncoriander seeds
  • 1 teaspoonblack cumin
  • 1 teaspoonwhite cumin
  • 1 tablespoonginger powder
  • 1 tablespoonred chili powder
  • 1 tablespooncoriander powder
  • 1 teaspoonturmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoonsalt
  • 2medium sized golden brown fried onions paste
  • 2 tablespoonsginger paste
  • 2 tablespoonsgarlic paste
  • 2 tablespoonsall-purpose flour

Steps

    First of all make a fine powder of all the spices and then mix the powdered spices with them.

  2. 2

    Then take a pressure cooker on high flame and pour 1 cup of oil in it.

  3. 3

    Now add beef in the pressure cooker.

  4. 4

    Now add ginger paste, garlic paste and all of the prepared spices in it and mix well for three to four minutes.

  5. 5

    Now add the onion paste in it and mix well. It will increase the taste of Nihari.

  6. 6

    Now add 6 cups of water in it and cover the lid of pressure.

  7. 7

    Now after the development of pressure on high flame, turn the flame low and cook for 30 to 35 minutes for the beef to cook well.

  8. 8

    Now when the beef is cooked well, turn the flame high and cook for 2 minutes.

  9. 9

    Now, remove the oil from the top and save it in a bowl. We'll use it at the end.

  10. 10

    Now add 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour in 1/2 cup of water and mix well.

  11. 11

    Now add this flour water in the Nihari while continually mixing the Nihari.

  12. 12

    Now cook it in low flame by covering it with a lid for 25 minutes.

    Beef Nihari is ready. Now serve it by garnishing with fresh green coriander, green chillies, Julien cut ginger and lemon. Don't forget to add the saved oil for the toping.
