Ingredients

  1. For the meat sauce
  2. 1.1 lbsground beef (500 grams)
  3. clovesSalt, pepper, cinnamon, ground
  4. Olive oil
  5. Red wine
  6. Tomato
  7. Carrot
  8. Red and green bell pepper
  9. Onion
  10. Garlic
  11. Pasta
  12. 1/2 packagepastitsio pasta (about 8 oz or 225 grams)
  13. For the béchamel sauce
  14. 4 1/4 cupsmilk (1 liter)
  15. 7 tablespoonsall-purpose flour (about 55 grams)
  16. 2eggs
  17. 1 tablespoonunsalted butter (or margarine)
  18. Salt, pepper
  19. Grated cheese

    Sauté the onion and garlic in olive oil. Add the ground beef, bell peppers, tomato, carrot, salt, pepper, cinnamon, and ground cloves. Deglaze with red wine and let the meat sauce simmer.

    Boil the pasta for 10 minutes.

    In a pot, combine the milk, flour, butter, eggs, a little salt, and pepper. Stir for about 10 minutes until the sauce thickens and starts to bubble. The béchamel is ready when it forms bubbles.

    In a baking dish, layer half of the pasta, then add half of the meat sauce, 5 to 7 tablespoons of béchamel, and a little grated cheese. Add the remaining pasta, the rest of the meat sauce, and the remaining béchamel. Top with more grated cheese.

    Bake at 400°F (200°C).
