Homemade Milk Bread
Fresh-from-the-oven, soft and milky
Steps
- 1
Add the dry ingredients to a bowl and mix well
- 2
Pour in the milk and mix with either your hands or a wooden spoon till well combined. *The milk should not be too hot otherwise it'll kill the yeast, just warm enough that you can dip your fingers into it
- 3
The knead in the butter
- 4
Place this on clean floured work surface and knead till it becomes stretchy and elastic, add more flour if it's too sticky but not too much to make it hard.
- 5
Place in an oiled bowl, cover with a cling film or kitchen and leave to rise for 1 hour in a warm place
- 6
Punch down the air, shape it into logs that will fit into the loaf pan, I used 2 mini loaf pans so I divided the dough into two
- 7
Cover to rise again for 45 minutes
- 8
Bake in a preheated oven or pot for 30 to 35 minutes
- 9
Remove from the oven, leave to cool down a bit, then brush some butter over the top to give it a shiny and soft crust.
- 10
Serve with your favourite sandwich fillings and a cup of beverage
