Sweet Buñuelos
An easy snack for cold days.
Steps
- 1
Gather all the necessary ingredients. Start by working with the dry ingredients. Sift the flour, salt, baking powder, and sugar into a bowl. Sifting helps distribute the ingredients evenly and prevents lumps, while also adding air to make the buñuelos fluffier.
- 2
Gradually add the milk and egg, mixing until you have a smooth batter. To do this, make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and slowly pour the milk into the center. You can use an electric mixer if you like.
- 3
Finish the buñuelos batter by adding the vanilla extract for extra flavor and aroma. You can also use other dessert extracts like lemon or orange zest if you prefer.
- 4
Once the batter is ready, heat a pot with enough oil so the buñuelos can float while frying. When the oil is hot, drop spoonfuls of batter into the oil and fry the buñuelos until golden on both sides, about 2-3 minutes total. Fry in small batches to prevent sticking or burning.
- 5
Remove the buñuelos and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. If you like, dust them with a little powdered sugar for decoration.
