Ingredients

  1. For The Crust
  2. (1 1/2) Sticks Butter Diced
  3. (3) Cup Flour
  4. (1) Tsp Salt
  5. (1) Tbsp Sugar
  6. (1/3) Cup Shortening
  7. (1/2) Cup Cold Water
  8. For The Filling
  9. (3) Tbsp butter
  10. (1/2) Cup Brown Sugar
  11. (5) Granny Smith Apples, peeled, cored and thin sliced
  12. (1/2) Cup Sugar
  13. (1/4) Cup Flour
  14. (1) Tbsp Lemon Juice
  15. (2) Tsp Cinnamon, devided
  16. For The Topping
  17. (1/4) Cup Flour
  18. (1/3) Cup Sugar
  19. (1/2) Cup Butter, cubed
  20. (1/3) Brown Sugar

Cooking Instructions

    For The Crust.

    Add Flour, Salt and Sugar to stand mixer. Mix with paddle 30 seconds.

    Add butter and Shortening, mix until dough is pea sized.

  4. 4

    Add water 1/4 Cup at a time. Mix until ball forms.

  5. 5

    Place on counter, divide in 2. Plastic wrap both balls, place in refrigerator.

    Let rest in refrigerator 1 hour.

    Place ball on floured board or wax paper. Roll out, fold in half, set aside.

    Roll out the 2nd ball, set aside.

    For The Filling

    Pre heat oven to 375 degrees fahrenheit.

    Melt the 3 Tbsp butter on stove in cast iron pan. Add (2) Tbsp of the brown sugar. Stir until mixed. Turn off heat.

    Place in bottom crust and form, careful as pan is hot.

    Mix/ Coat Apple slices in a bowl with 1/3 cup sugar and 2 Tsp Cinnamon, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup flour and (1) Tbsp Lemon juice. Place on the bottom crust.

    Place top crust, trim and pinch all around the rim. Slice top crust a few times.

    Mix topping ingredients with fork until crumbly. Spread out over top crust.

    Bake for 50-60 minutes. (I put a baking sheet under the Skillet to catch overflow) Remove from oven, let rest to room temperature. Slice.

. Check out my recipes as I add them. I bake, cook many types of food and I love to Smoke beef and pork. I use an offset wood smoker with an Bluetooth digital thermometer. If im feeling lazy I just go to my son's house and use his Traeger Grill. 😁 Fire and forget is boring LoL but yummy also. As the saying goes, " It's hot, brown and lots of it". I'm also working on a small cookbook for family. ❤️
