Chocolate Cake or Cupcakes: One Recipe, Endless Combinations

This is my favorite recipe, and it's a favorite of everyone who has tried it.
You can make cakes, cupcakes, or cake pops with the same ingredients. Bake them fudgy or fully cooked. Top or fill them as you like.
Enjoy them plain, dusted with powdered sugar, glazed, with ganache, truffles, candies, sprinkles, edible pearls—whatever you can imagine.
If you like fruit and chocolate together, fill the cupcakes with banana, strawberry, raspberry, or orange puree, or even ice cream or sorbet.
This recipe works as an everyday dessert or as a special treat for celebrations like birthdays, holidays, Valentine's Day, Halloween, and more.
As the title says, one recipe = endless combinations. ~Ele

Steps
- 1
Preheat the oven to 340–355°F (170–180°C). Grease the baking pan (or 8 large cupcake molds) with butter. For a sweet crust, sprinkle with granulated sugar if you like.
- 2
Mix the eggs, sugar, and salt in a bowl.
- 3
In a second bowl, add the flour and baking powder, then mix together.
- 4
Melt the butter in a saucepan. Add the chocolate to the melted butter and stir until smooth and fully combined.
- 5
Add the melted chocolate-butter mixture to the eggs. Mix well again.
- 6
When the oven is ready, add the egg and chocolate mixture to the flour mixture. Stir until the batter is as smooth as possible.
- 7
For cake: Pour the final batter into the greased pan. Bake for 25 minutes. For a fudgier cake, bake 5 minutes less; for a drier cake, bake 5–10 minutes more.
- 8
For cupcakes: Pour the final batter into the greased cupcake molds. Bake for 10 minutes. For fudgier cupcakes, bake 2 minutes less; for drier cupcakes, bake 2–3 minutes more.
- 9
Once the cake and/or cupcakes are out of the oven, let them cool completely before removing from the pan (to prevent breaking).
- 10
For cake: Serve as is or decorate with powdered sugar, ganache, chocolates, candies, etc.
- 11
For cupcakes: Serve as is or decorate with marshmallows, chocolate candies, fruit, ice cream, edible pearls, sprinkles, etc.
- 12
One thing is certain: you'll love this recipe. You'll make it again and again. Enjoy!
