For Hinamatsuri (Doll Festival): Perfectly Round Temari Sushi #1

I have a cake pop mold that makes ball-shaped cakes, so I wanted to use it to make some temari sushi (ball-shaped sushi) that are all the same size. The prince and princess shaped sushi balls are special because of their garments, but for the others, I simply spread out the sushi filling in the bottom of the mold, packed in the ingredients, and made them into ball shapes.
Make sure to wet the lid of the mold.
You can also spread out plastic wrap in the mold beforehand, put the sushi in, cover with more plastic wrap, and then cover it with the lid. This eliminates the need to moisten the mold and makes the rice easy to remove.
When packing the sushi rice into the mold, press it lightly into balls with your hands beforehand. This way the temari sushi will have a nice round shape. Recipe by NordicWare

Steps
- 1
Mix the sushi rice flavoring into the cooked rice.
- 2
Moisten a cake pop pan with water, and place your favorite fillings at the base of the mold. (Don't put fillings in two of the molds). Lightly pack the sushi rice into the mold over the filling.
- 3
Cover with the lid, and close the pins. Press down firmly on the mold from the top, remove the lid, and take out the sushi balls.
- 4
Decorate the two sushi balls that have no fillings. Make the emperor doll face out of black sesame and sakura denbu, and make the kimono and traditional headgear from the nori seaweed and cucumber.
- 5
Make the empress doll face with black sesame and sakura denbu, and make the kimono and hair decoration out of the thin omelet, salmon, and sliced cheese.
- 6
