Steps
- 1
In a bowl take rava, wheat flour, salt and mix well. Add water little by little and knead for 10-12 mins until smooth dough is formed. Keep aside for half an hour. Knead again for a min.
- 2
Divide the dough into large balls. Grease the surface with oil and roll the balls as thin as possible. With a round cookie cutter cut into small puris.
- 3
Fry them in hot until golden and crispy. Need not puff them as we will be crushing them for this recipe. Drain on a tissue paper. Store them in airtight container until use.
- 4
Wash and soak dried peas for 8 hours. Pressure cook soaked peas, along with peeled potato, turmeric powder along with water for 5-6 whistles until peas are cooked well.
- 5
To prepare masala, heat 1 tbsp oil in pan. Add in roughly chopped onion, garlic, ginger, chili and saute until onions are translucent. Add in jeera, cinnamon, clove and saute for a min.
- 6
Add in chopped tomatoes and cook until tomatoes are tender. Let it aside to cool. Transfer this mixture to mixer jar and grind to a fine paste.
- 7
Add coriander leaves, pudina leaves followed by 3 tbsp of cooked peas and half potato. Grind to a fine paste.
- 8
In a pan heat 2 tbsp oil. Add coriander powder, garam masala and fry on low flame until aromatic. Add in prepared masala along with little water and let it boil. Add in mashed potato along with cooked peas, and salt.
- 9
Adjust the consistency and let it simmer for 10 mins. Let it cool down a bit before serving. Peas masala is ready to be served with puris.
- 10
For serving chop onion, tomato and coriander leaves. Keep everything ready. In plates take 6-8 puris and slightly crush them with palm.
- 11
Pour in prepared peas masala on the puris. Sprinkle some chopped onion, tomato and coriander leaves. Finally garnish with sev.
- 12
Serve it immediately.
