Ingredients

45 minutes
6 servings
  • 1 cupSprouted moth beans
  • 2 Tbspcoriander seeds
  • 1/2 cupdried grated coconut
  • 4-5dried Kashmiri Red chillies
  • 4 Tbspoil
  • 3medium size onions
  • 7-8garlic cloves
  • 1 Tbspgrated ginger
  • 3medium sized tomatoes
  • 1/2 Cupwater
  • 1 Tspmustard seeds
  • 1 Tspcumin seeds
  • 5-6curry leaves
  • 1 Tbspred chilli powder
  • 1/2 Tspturmeric powder
  • 1 Tspcoriander cumin seeds powder
  • to tasteSalt
  • 2 Tbsplemon juice
  • 1 Tspgaram masala
  • as requiredFarsan

Steps

  1. 1

    In a pressure cooker add the sprouted moth beans, salt, turmeric and water, mix and pressure cook on high flame for one whistle. Turn off the flame and let the cooker cool down at normal room temperature to open the lid.

    Dry roast the Kashmiri red chilli and coriander seeds.

    Dry roast the the grated coconut until turns golden brown. Let it cool down at room temperature.

    In a mixture jar take the roasted Kashmiri red chilli and coriander seeds and grated coconut and grind it.

    Heat 1 tbsp oil and add onion slice, grated ginger and garlic cloves. And cook until it turns light brown.

    Add the sliced tomatoes and cook until they are mushy. Add some water and cool down the mixture.

    Grind tomato onion mixture to form a paste.

    In a pan heat oil and add the mustard seeds, cumin seeds and curry leaves. Then add prepaid tomato onion paste.

    Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, salt to taste and grinned mixture of the roasted items. Add lemon juice.

    Add cooked moth beans. Add water and mix it well and cook for 5-7 minutes.

    Serve hot topped with farsan, chopped onion, chopped coriander and lemon.
