Ingredients

35-50 minutes
  1. 4 cupsmilk
  2. 1/2 cupsugar
  3. 2 cupsGrape-nut cereal, divided
  4. 1/2 tspsalt
  5. 1 tspvanilla
  6. 4large eggs, well beaten
  7. Nutmeg

Cooking Instructions

35-50 minutes
  1. 1

    In large sauce pan, add milk, sugar, 1 cup cereal, vanilla, and salt
    Blend

  2. 2

    Scald milk (bring to a low simmer) over medium heat, stirring regularly

  3. 3

    While milk heats, in a separate bowl whisk eggs

  4. 4

    Grease a 2 quart baking dish, add enough cereal to coat bottom of dish (if there is any left over, add to milk mixture)

    Prepare water bath for baking dish

  6. 6

    Preheat oven to 350

  7. 7

    After milk simmers, temper eggs (slowly add hot milk to eggs while constantly whisking eggs so they don’t curdle)

  8. 8

    Add milk/egg mixture to baking dish and place both water bath and baking dish into oven

  9. 9

    Bake 35-50 minutes, until edges are set and center is still slightly jiggly

  10. 10

    Place on cooling rack

  11. 11

    Serve pudding warm or cold
