Family Recipe for two, one leek per person makes a filling dinner. We usually dont freeze food prepared with cheese or milk, because it looses flavor and texture when reheated. The unused portion of this dish stays fresh for a few days in the fridge.

Family Recipe for two, one leek per person makes a filling dinner. We usually dont freeze food prepared with cheese or milk, because it looses flavor and texture when reheated. The unused portion of this dish stays fresh for a few days in the fridge.

Preheat oven to 450F degrees. Trim leek roots and darkest green end of tops, slice lenght wise, cut in forksize pieces, rinse and wash in collander, drain.

Mix with sliced forksize strips of ham or tempeh, put in baking dish. Boil cup of milk or cream, pour over leeks and ham in baking dish, bake in oven till soft and creamy, about fifteen minutes. Taste.

Melt 4 Tbs butter in skillet, add 4 Tbs water, tsp paprika, 4 Tbs all-purpose flour. Make creamy gravy. Mix well with leeks and ham, sprinkle grated cheese on top, broil till you see a nice golden brown crust in hot oven, about fifteen minutes. Serve, enjoy.
