Ingredients

45 mins
2 servings
  • 200 gred lentils, washed
  • 900 mlwater (approx.)
  • 1 tspsalt
  • Masala: 1 tbsp ghee or vegetable oil
  • 1 tspcumin seeds
  • 1small onion, gratted
  • 1garlic clove, chopped
  • 400 gtin tomatoes, chopped
  • 1chilli, finely chopped
  • 1 tspfenugreek leaves
  • 1 tspgaram masala

Steps

45 mins
  1. 1

    Add all your dry spices to the pan and fry until aromatic careful not to burn

  2. 2

    Add your onion and garlic and cook slowly until they are light golden again do not burn

  3. 3

    Add the tomatoes and lentils

  4. 4

    Coat in the spice mix

  5. 5

    Add water

  6. 6

    Bring to the boil then simmer stirring occasionally

  7. 7

    After 30 mins the lentils should now be soft to the bite mash some to give you a smooth texture with some bite

    Garnish with chopped chilli and fresh tomato
