Heat oil in a pan(1 tb.spoon.),add cumin,kalonji.Saute.Add onion,garlic, green chilli,ginger.Cook for 3-4 min.Add.all dry spices and chana dal.Add 1/2 cup water and close the lid.Cook it for 6-7 min.Switch off the gas.Let it cool.Mash it..

For the covering - Boil 11/4 th cup water,add salt and 1 tb.spoon.oil in it.Add rice flour and mix.Cover it and leave it for 3-4 min.Now knead the dough when it is warm to a smooth dough.

Divide the dough into 9 portions.Take one portion, roll it like a puri, put chana dal mixture on it fold it like a gujiya and press the edges.

Boil water in a big pan,keep a strainer on it, place all the gujiya shape dumpling on it,cover it and steam it for 20 min.(depending on the thickness of the covering.)

Your dal Peetha is ready to serve.I have served it with aloo ki sabzi.
