Rinse the pork ribs and place them in a soup pot. Add cold water and bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce to medium-low heat and simmer for 15 minutes to remove impurities, then rinse again.

Place the pork ribs and ginger slices in the pot, add water, and bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce to low heat and simmer slowly. Add the yam 20 minutes before turning off the heat, and season with salt 10 minutes before turning off the heat.
