Flax seeds (also known as linseed) comes from the flax plant, which grows about 2 feet tall. History says that it was first grown in Egypt but now cultivated all around the world. Flax seeds are usually brown or yellow and they are oil seeds. Flax seeds have become popular as a healthy food as they are rich in heart-healthy, only plant based source of Omega-3 fats, fiber and other unique plant compounds. They are also good source of several vitamins and minerals as well as antioxidants. Flax seeds are generally consumed as mouth freshners, sprinkle on salad or cereal, mixed into yogurt or by adding them into bread, cookies or crakers. Today, I have made flax seeds oats bhakhri, which is very healthy replacement to our regular flat breads.
