Kathiyawadi Toor Dal is prepared with boiled split pigeon peas lentils / toor dal , tempered with whole spices, regular spices, peanuts add crunchiness in Dal/ curry.

Steps

Rinse and soak toor dal for 1/2 hour.

Pressure cook with 2 cups water for 4 whistles. Blend boiled toor dal with hand whisker or blender.

Keep all mentioned ingredients/ spices ready. Chopped tomato. Keep aside

In steel cooking pan add heat ghee. Add star anise,cloves, cinnamon sticks, fenugreek seeds, mustard seeds, cumin seeds.

Add asafoetida, tumeric powder, curry leaves, peanuts. Saute for 1 minute.

Add chopped tomato, dry red chilli, slit green chilli. Mix and cook till tomato pieces soften.

Add whisked boiled toor dal, red chilli powder, dhania jeera powder, salt, jaggery. Stir (add water if needed) and simmer cook/ boil on medium flame for 3-4 minutes. Add lemon juice. Off the flame.

Serve/Relish Delicious Nutritious Hot Kathiyawadi Toor Dal garnishing with chopped coriander leaves with roti, sabzi, boiled rice.
