In a pressure cooker, cook the chana dal for 6 to 7 whistles.

After this, mash the cooked dal with masher.

Heat ghee in a pan, add the cooked chana dal and sauté well for 5 minutes.

Now add grated jaggery and cardamom powder and stir well.

Let this puran mixture cook on a low flame till the mixture becomes dry.

Let this stuffing mixture cool.

Take whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, turmeric powder, ghee and salt in a bowl mix well.

Add a little bit of water and mix well to knead the dough, adding water as required.

Make medium size balls from dough and fill the stuffing in it.

Seal the edges, sprinkle some flour and start rolling the dough to make a medium or large circle (poli).

On a heated tawa or griddle, spread some ghee and place the rolled poli/dough circle on the tawa.
When one side gets browned, turn over and cook the other side till you see some brown spots and Puran poli will puff up. - 12
Make all pooran poli this way and serve puran poli warm or at room temperature with milk, ghee or curd (yogurt).
