Ingredients

  • 2 poundsfresh ground beef
  • 1 quarttomato juice
  • 1 (29 oz)can tomato puree
  • 1 (15 oz)can red kidney beans (drained)
  • 1 (15 oz)can pinto beans, drained
  • 1med-lg chopped onion (about 1 1/2 cups)
  • 1/2 cupdiced celery
  • 1/4 cupdiced green bell pepper
  • 1/4 cupchili powder (less for milder chili)
  • 1 teaspoonground cumin (more for real flavor)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoongarlic powder
  • 1 teaspoonsalt
  • 1/2 teaspoonground pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoondried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoonsugar
  • 1/8 teaspooncayenne pepper

    In a large Skillet Brown the ground beef. After that put the beef and the remaining ingredients in a 6-quart pot. Cover the pot and let chili simmer for 1 to 1& a half hours, stirring every 15 minutes.
