Ingredients

Serves 4 cups
  1. 4 cupsrice (Basmati, brown, or Japanese rice)
  2. 1/3-1/2 teaspoonsalt (using Himalayan rock salt)
  3. 1 2/3 cupswater (about 400 ml)
  4. 4-6cardamom pods, whole

Cooking Instructions

    Rinse the rice quickly with water. Add salt, water, and cardamom, and let it sit for about 20 minutes. Cover and bring to a boil over high heat, then cook on medium heat. In our home, it takes just under 15 minutes.

    Once cooked, mix the rice thoroughly. Serve with curry or a vegetarian plate.
