Easier Than Tonkatsu: Juicy Tonteki

Thank you for making this recipe popular! The rich sauce makes it perfect with rice, cabbage, or even a drink!
The origin of this recipe
I switched from making tonkatsu to tonteki midway, and it turned out delicious. It's healthier than frying, and the sweet sauce was a big hit with the kids.
The meat in the photo uses Costco's 'pork loin ribs'. It stayed tender and tasty even after cooking.

Cooking Instructions
- 1
Cut the pork into easy-to-eat pieces, season with salt and pepper, and coat with flour. If using tonkatsu meat, make cuts in the muscle to prevent curling.
- 2
Cut the onion into wedges about 1/4 inch thick and microwave in a microwave-safe dish for about 2 minutes. (You can also sauté it, but microwaving saves time.)
- 3
Add a generous amount of oil (not listed in ingredients) to a frying pan and cook the pork. Once browned, flip it over, cover, and cook through.
- 4
Once cooked, add the onion and pour the sauce over the top. Stir to coat everything, and once the sauce thickens, it's ready.
- 5
Serve with shredded cabbage or other vegetables. (The tonteki sauce goes great with shredded cabbage!)

Super Easy Tonkatsu Super Easy Tonkatsu
My husband loves fried food, so I attempted so many different techniques to get the best tonkatsu possible. This is now the staple recipe for my family.Adding oil to the beaten egg is a trick that prevents the coating from falling off the meat. Also, dipping the meat into the coating twice helps to lock in the juices and makes the panko extra crispy. Recipe by Acchan cookpad.japan -

Easy and Cheap! Soft Bite-Sized Tonkatsu Easy and Cheap! Soft Bite-Sized Tonkatsu
Some tonkatsu recipes involve layering the cuts of pork on the top of each other, shaping them, then dredging, which is too complicated. I simply used mayonnaise and panko, which I already tried when making fried Pacific Saury.Thinly sliced pork will make result in a tender meat. To shape the tonkatsu pieces, squeeze the meat slices into little balls with your hands. The mayonnaise makes it easier to coat in the panko. The thinly sliced pork can be cooked quickly without deep frying. Recipe by Madorinko cookpad.japan -

Less Calories and Less Washing! Baked Tonkatsu Less Calories and Less Washing! Baked Tonkatsu
I wanted to lose weight, but I didn't want to go on a restrictive diet and wanted to still enjoy eating through the process.I made this recipe taking these things into consideration and now I can eat the same meal as my family. However, be careful not to overeat!Thinly coating with flour is best and it's not good with too much or too little flour. Same with the mayonnaise.Brushing oil just before baking is optional. Without oil, the meat still becomes crispy as it has mayonnaise already. For 3 - 4 servings. Recipe by tabubun cookpad.japan -
