It's delightful to make sparkling water easily at home! With a bit more citric acid, you'll have a refreshing and delicious sparkling water. The story behind this recipe: In our household, we love sparkling water, but buying it from a vending machine at $1.30 a bottle is hard on the wallet! So, we decided to make sparkling water easily at home. Basically, you can create a chemical reaction to make sparkling water in any order, but it seems best to dissolve the baking soda in water before adding the citric acid.

Cut a piece of parchment paper and place it on a kitchen scale (to use for adding ingredients into the bottle).

  3. 3

Measure 1 teaspoon (5g) each of baking soda and citric acid, and shake the bottle well each time to dissolve them in the water.

  6. 6

Using a cylindrical shaker made it easy to add a spoonful directly without worrying about the narrow bottle opening.

  7. 7

You can also make it directly in a glass. This might be even easier!

  8. 8

If baking soda remains at the bottom, add cold water and more citric acid to make it drinkable again.

Adding ice and stirring seems to activate it even more. Fizzy!

Using 1 teaspoon each for a half portion (1 cup or 250ml) also tasted fine.

By the way, this is store-bought sparkling water.

Recently started a protein lifestyle! The key to making it delicious is cold water and ice. It's the same here.
