Ingredients

2-3 servings
  • 1 TbspVegetable oil
  • 1Medium - Onion, peeled and finely chopped
  • 2 Cloves- Garlic, peeled and finely chopped
  • 1 tsp- Turmeric (kunyit) ground
  • 1/2 tsp- Cumin (jitan) ground
  • 1tsp, ground - Lemon grass (serai)
  • 1 tsp- Sambal oelek
  • 1pea-sized piece - Dried prawn (shrimp) paste (terasi)
  • 1 Tsp- Salt
  • 250 ml (1 cup)- Coconut milk squeezed from 1/2 grated coconut with sufficient water added
  • 450 g (1 lbs)- Prawns (shrimps) frozen or fresh, peeled, leave tails intact of desired

Steps

  1. 1

    Heat oil lightly saute onion and garlic.

  2. 2

    Add Turmeric, cumin, lemon grass, stir and add sambal oelek, dried prawn paste and salt stir again.

  3. 3

    Add coconut milk and bring to the boil. Then, lower heat and add prawns. simmer uncovered for 15 -20 minutes.
