First, take a deep and wide bowl. Add all the dry ingredients as mentioned and give a good mix. Check the taste for spices. Then add buttermilk in small quantities and mix to a thick batter. You can substitute water for buttermilk too. Mix in some oil. Keep covered for 10 minutes.

Now keep nonstick skillet to heat over medium flame. Whisk the batter for a minute. Then take out laddlefull of batter spread on the heated tawa in circles. Pour oil at the sides and on top. Cover and cook till golden brown on each side.

Make all Pancakes similarly. Serve piping hot with curd, pickle and ghee or butter.

Tip: you can make parathas or theplas using the same ingredients.
