Ingredients

20 minutes
4 servings
  1. 2 cupsDill Leaves (picked, washed and patted dry)
    Karnataka Special Akki Rotti
  2. 2 cupswhole wheat flour
    Wheat Upma (Ukad Pendi)
  3. 1/4 cupbesan (optional)
  4. 1 tsp salt or as per taste
  5. 1 tablespoonoil to knead the dough
  6. 1 tspoil for each Pancake for roasting
  7. 1 tsp each of chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder and aamchur powder
  8. 1 tspcumin seeds
  9. 1 tspsesame seeds
  10. 1/2 tsp crushed fennel seeds
  11. 1 tablespoonchopped coriander leaves
  12. 1 cupbuttermilk to mix the dough or you can use water
  13. 1 cupyoghurt to serve
  14. 1 teaspoonpickle to serve
  15. 1 teaspoonbutter or ghee to serve (optional)

Steps

  1. 1

    First, take a deep and wide bowl. Add all the dry ingredients as mentioned and give a good mix. Check the taste for spices. Then add buttermilk in small quantities and mix to a thick batter. You can substitute water for buttermilk too. Mix in some oil. Keep covered for 10 minutes.

    Now keep nonstick skillet to heat over medium flame. Whisk the batter for a minute. Then take out laddlefull of batter spread on the heated tawa in circles. Pour oil at the sides and on top. Cover and cook till golden brown on each side.

    Make all Pancakes similarly. Serve piping hot with curd, pickle and ghee or butter.

    Enjoy delicious dill leaves and wheat flour pancakes.
    Tip: you can make parathas or theplas using the same ingredients.
