Rice is a staple food in Odisha. Most popular is the rice and moong daal Khichdi with Sona masoori scented rice, coconut. It's a simple one pot meal which can be taken as such with pickles.

Rice is a staple food in Odisha. Most popular is the rice and moong daal Khichdi with Sona masoori scented rice, coconut. It's a simple one pot meal which can be taken as such with pickles.
Steps

First roast moong daal till aromatic. Allow to cool down.
Measure rice and moong dal. Take the water two times to cook khichdi. - 2

In a pressure cooker heat ghee. Add bay leaves and cumin seeds. When cumin seeds splutter, add 2 cups of water. Mix sugar and salt with water.

Add moong daal, Sona masoori rice and coconut powder. Pressure cooker for one whistle. Allow to cool down.
Garnish with chopped almonds and cranberries and serve
