Ingredients

  1. 1 1/4 cupIdli Rice or Boiled Rice
  2. 3/4 cupDosa Rice or Raw Rice
  3. 1/2 cupToor Dal
  4. 1/2 cupWhole Urad Dal
  5. 2 tbspChana Dal
  6. 1/4 tspFenugreek or Methi Seeds
  7. 1/2 cupGrated Coconut
  8. 2Green Chillies
  9. 2Red Chillies
  10. 4 podsgarlic
  11. 1/4 tspAsafoetida
  12. 2 sprigsCurry Leaves
  13. Salt to taste
  14. as neededOil

Steps

    Wash and soak idli rice, raw rice and chana dal in water for around 2 hours.

    Drain water. Transfer the rice and some of the reserved water (around 2 to 3 tablespoons) to a mixer and add the green chillies and red chillies, garlic and one sprig of curry leaves and grind to a coarse mixture.

    Before making the dosas, mix half a cup of freshly grated coconut.

  4. 4

    Heat a cast iron tawa and spread a little oil and spray some water. Pour one ladle of the batter and spread it

  5. 5

    .Adai generally requires little extra oil for cooking. Cook on medium flame till the edges start to brown.
    Add some more oil if required. Serve hot with chutney.
