Gluten-Free Peanut Butter Cereal Bars (with Cheerios)

Personally, I consider all packaged ready-to-eat foods and snacks as junk food, so I wanted to share something that's a healthier version of a junk snack. It still has some sweetness, but it's homemade, and peanut butter is one of the healthiest spreads we have at home!

Personally, I consider all packaged ready-to-eat foods and snacks as junk food, so I wanted to share something that's a healthier version of a junk snack. It still has some sweetness, but it's homemade, and peanut butter is one of the healthiest spreads we have at home!
Steps
- 1
In a small saucepan, combine the sugar, peanut butter, and honey (or maple syrup or corn syrup).
- 2
Stir over low to medium heat until warmed and smooth, about 1-2 minutes.
- 3
In a large bowl, add the Cheerios and peanuts or chocolate chips.
- 4
Pour the warm peanut butter mixture over the Cheerios and mix well with a spatula or spoon.
- 5
Line a 9-inch (23 cm) square pan with parchment paper or grease it well (parchment paper works best unless you have a silicone pan). Spread the mixture evenly in the pan using a spoon.
- 6
Freeze for 15-20 minutes or refrigerate for 1 hour. Then cut into 12 bars and serve!
