Ingredients

15 minutes prep + 15 minutes in freezer or 1 hour in fridge

  1. 1/2 cupsugar (about 100 grams)
  2. 1/2 cuppeanut butter (about 120 grams)
  3. 1/2 cuphoney, maple syrup, or corn syrup (about 120 ml)
  4. 3 cupsCheerios whole grain cereal (about 75 grams)
  5. 1/2 cupunsalted peanuts or gluten-free chocolate chips, optional (about 70 grams)

Steps

15 minutes prep + 15 minutes in freezer or 1 hour in fridge

    In a small saucepan, combine the sugar, peanut butter, and honey (or maple syrup or corn syrup).

    Stir over low to medium heat until warmed and smooth, about 1-2 minutes.

    In a large bowl, add the Cheerios and peanuts or chocolate chips.

    Pour the warm peanut butter mixture over the Cheerios and mix well with a spatula or spoon.

    Line a 9-inch (23 cm) square pan with parchment paper or grease it well (parchment paper works best unless you have a silicone pan). Spread the mixture evenly in the pan using a spoon.

    Freeze for 15-20 minutes or refrigerate for 1 hour. Then cut into 12 bars and serve!
