Steps
- 1
Preheat the oven to 400–425°F (200–220°C).
- 2
Brush the bread slices lightly with extra virgin olive oil.
- 3
Remove the stems and peel from the figs.
- 4
Open the figs and place one opened fig on each slice of bread.
- 5
Sprinkle a few tablespoons of brown sugar over the figs.
- 6
Bake on the top rack and let the figs caramelize slightly for about 20 minutes. Watch carefully so the figs don't lose too much moisture.
- 7
Once baked, cut the Toma cheese into thin slices and place the cheese on top of the caramelized figs.
- 8
Add the washed and dried arugula on top.
- 9
Season the arugula with a pinch of salt and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil. Serve.
