Ingredients

4 servings
  • 450 g(about 1 lb) Fresh green beans
  • 700 ml(enough to almost cover beans) Chicken broth
  • 2bulbs, sliced Garlic
  • 4 slicesBacon
  • 1 tablespoon(heaping) Sugar
  • 2 tablespoonsButter
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Black pepper

Steps

  1. 1

    Wash green beans and trim ends or break into pieces as desired.

  2. 2

    Place beans in a pot and add chicken broth to almost cover.

  3. 3

    Add sliced garlic and sugar to the pot.

  4. 4

    Fry bacon until crispy; pour bacon grease into the pot.

  5. 5

    Add butter, salt, and pepper to taste.

  6. 6

    Simmer on medium heat for about 1 hour, until beans are tender but still crisp.

  7. 7

    Top with crumbled crispy bacon before serving.

Tips

For a prettier presentation, keep the beans a little crispy.
