Healthy Citrus Breakfast Porridge with Mosambi, Oats, Amaranth and mixed fruits

On Ganesh Chaturthi, we lovingly bring home the Ganapati idol along with the mooshak vahan idol and do gamesh Sthapana at home , just like we lovingly have a guest over at our home. We prepare a beautiful place for Ganesha, decorate it with flowers, leaves, make his asan or seat and offer lots of delicious dishes to him as a symbol of our devotion, love and respect. In the bhog there is a tradition of offering 5 fruits, in which Mosambi is always there . So after visarjan, I decided to make a delicious and quick porridge for next day breakfast with the prasad of fruits. This is a healthy recipe, which is rich in proteins, vitamins, minerals and fibre. Mosambi is a good source of calcium, vitamin C and fibre. Fruits give us energy, gut health, good skin, shiny hair, bones and immunity. Oats, Amarnath and dates are super foods with maximum nutrition.Try this porridge and let me know in the comments.

First, wash and dry the fruits. Chop the apple in small pieces. Peel and remove the petals or wedges from orange and mosambi.

Remove seeds, white skin and cut in small pieces. Chop dates in small slices.

Boil water and ghee in a pan. Then add oats, amaranth and cook for 5 minutes till soft. Add milk, dates and cook for 5 more minutes till it is cooked completely.

Cool the porridge fully to room temperature and then add 1 tablespoon each of orange and mosambi juice.

Important Tip: If you have used dairy milk like cow or buffalo milk, avoid adding the juice as the dairy milk has opposite properties and will make the taste bitterish.

Now serve the porridge in a large bowl. Top with chopped apple, orange and mosambi pieces. Enjoy this citrus porridge and get a boost of vitamin C !
