Ingredients

8 to 10 hours
10 servings
  1. 1 lbspinto beans
  2. 1/2 blocksalt pork
  3. 6 cupschicken broth
  4. 5 clovesfresh garlic
  5. to tastegarlic powder
  6. to tasteoregano
  7. to tastecumin
  8. seasoned salt (just a shake over, not too much)
  9. chili 3000 Penzy Spice to taste
  10. to tasteGerbhart chili
  11. Kirkland no-salt seasoning
  12. to tasteKroger Zesty garlic seasoning
  13. to tasteminced garlic
  14. 1jalapeno - optional
  15. 1habenero - optinal
  16. 1/2onion - optional

Steps

8 to 10 hours
  1. 1

    Sort through beans, looking for broken beans, rocks, or dark beans.

  2. 2

    Soak overnight or for at least 8 to 10 hours with a hand towel covering the top.

  3. 3

    Uncover and if there are floaters scoop and discard. Drain beans in a strainer.

  4. 4

    Pour beans and salt pork in crock pot. Add all seasonings and garlic and then chicken broth.

  5. 5

    Stir, cover, cook 8 to 10 hours.

  6. 6

    If making beans for chili, save the broth! Its perfect already seasoned broth for your chili!
