Ingredients

  • 1 canCanned cooked chick peas
  • 1 pinchAsafoedita
  • 1/4 tspturmeric powder
  • 2 tspcoriander powder
  • 1 tspginger paste (freshly ground)
  • 1/4 tspcumin seeds
  • 1 cuptomato purée (freshly crushed)
  • 1Serrano pepper (chilli) chopped
  • 1/2lemon
  • to tasteSalt
  • 2 tbspoil
  • 1 handfulcilantro chopped
  • 1/4 tspcayenne powder
  • 1/2 cupwater

Steps

    Heat oil in a pan/vessel

  2. 2

    Add a pinch of asafodita to oil

  3. 3

    Add cumin seeds to the oil till it crackles

  4. 4

    Add chopped Serrano peppers

  5. 5

    After the peppers are cooked, add tomato purée

  6. 6

    Stir it well and cook in medium heat

  7. 7

    Add turmeric powder, cayenne powder, coriander powder and ginger paste to the mix

  8. 8

    Still well and allow it to cook for 4 mins in medium heat

  9. 9

    Once the tomato purée is fully cooked, add chick pea (garbanzo beans) to the mix

  10. 10

    Add water and cook the entire contents with a lid covered for 15mins.

  11. 11

    Now take a few (around 10-15 beans) outside with the help of stirring spoon and mash it

  12. 12

    Add the mashed chick peas back to the vessel

  13. 13

    After a few (2-3) mins, remove the curry from the vessel

  14. 14

    Garnish it with chopped cilantro leaves and squeeze half of the lemon into this

  15. 15

    Serve this hot with rice or Indian breads (roti, Naan, garlic naan etc)
