This recipe was one of the first I cooked for my husband 10 years ago, and he loved it. I want to share with you one of my favorite ways to make this dish.

First, soak the beans overnight.

Cook the beans in 8 1/2 cups water (2 liters) for 30 minutes, adding the onion, garlic, and a bay leaf for flavor, in a pressure cooker. Set aside.

Finely chop the green onion stems, bell pepper, and onion.

In a skillet, add a drizzle of oil. Add the vegetables and ground meat, and cook for 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper, and add bay leaves.

When the meat is cooked, add the tomato sauce and chili powder to taste. Let it cook for another 10 minutes. Finally, add the chopped parsley and it's ready.
