Always start with stuffing. In one non stick pan add ghee. Once ghee is hot add coconut, dryfruits and jaggery and let it cook until jaggery melts completly and start forming sticky dough. Add ilachi powder and pinch of salt.

For rice cover boil water. For 1 cup of rice flour use approximately 2/3 of water. Add ghee in it and let it get nice boil. Add rice flour later and continuously stir it. Once it starts getting seperated from sides take dough in flat plate and knead it with help of ghee. This should happen while batter is hot enough. Cold dough may break down while making modaks.

Now make small ball of it in cover all balls under damp cloth until it use.

Grease palm with ghee. Make ball flat on palm gently. Fill stuffing exactly inside and close all side by pinching side by sides and close it.

Steam these modak in steamer for 15 mins.

Pour ghee on top and eat it.
