Ingredients

  1. SPICES
  2. 1 tbspoil or ghee
  3. 1 tspcumin seeds
  4. 1 tspground ginger
  5. 1/2 tspground cayenne pepper
  6. 1 tspfennel seeds
  7. 1/2 tspasafoetida powder
  8. 1/2 tspgaram marsala
  9. add after 2 minutes
  10. 2 cupwater
  11. 1 1/4 cupwhite sugar
  12. 3 tbsptamarind paste
  13. 1 cupbrown sugar

Cooking Instructions

    put oil in saucepan

    add spices. I tend to put all my spices in a bowl before I start so I'm ready to go.

    cook the spices for 2 minutes. keep on medium low..

  4. 4

    add the water, sugar, and tamarind paste.

  5. 5

    turn heat up to medium high and allow it to bubble.

  6. 6

    turn down to medium and allow it to cook down for about 25 - 30 minutes. it should thicken as it cooks.

    when it was done I allowed it to cool before I put it in glass jars.
