Real Gujarati Handvo

Famous Gujarati Item and a Tea-time snack almost. I have not made this since many months so I don't have the pic. However due to time constraints and the keen desire to post the recipe of this item, I took permission of Bindu Sampat who has a very good expertise in making traditional Gujarati Food, to use her pic. I heartily would like to thank her for allowing me.
This is made from batter of Real Gujarati Dhokla only which I have already posted here.

Steps
- 1
Grate the bottle gourd and drain the water from it. Mix well the grated bottle guard in the Real Dhokla Batter along with salt and all masalas.
- 2
Heat 3-4 big table spoon oil in Aluminium wok (Handva Cooker is also available esp in Gujarat) and crackle Mustard and Cumin seeds. Add 1/2 cup peanuts /chana dal and saute till pink. Add now cinnamon, cloves, hing, whole red dry chilis and curry leaves and saute for 5 minutes till it leaves the aroma.
- 3
Add the mixed batter and let it cook for half an hour around ON A MEDIUM-LOW Flame. Later, once you find that the bottom layer of the batter is being little blackish or brownish, NO NEED TO WORRY. It is well cooked Handvo. To check whether it has been cooked well, you can insert a toothpick. If batter is still sticking to toothpick, that means it is still raw. Allow it to cook more.
- 4
Serve Hot with Tea or dip the pieces into Peanuts oil and enjoy. :)
Thank you.
