Ingredients

  • 1/2 bowlYellow mustard seeds
  • 1/2 bowlBlack mustard seeds
  • 1 tbspRed chilli powder
  • 1 tspTurmeric powder
  • 1 tspCumin seeds
  • 8-10 clovesGarlic
  • 1 inch stickGinger
  • to tasteSalt
  • 1/2 tspSugar
  • 1 pinchHing / asafoetida
  • 2 tbspVinegar
  • 2 tbspMustard oil

Steps

  1. 1

    Dry roast the mustard seeds in a pan and strain it

  2. 2

    In a blender add roasted mustard seeds,cumin seeds,garlic,ginger and salt and blend to make a paste.

  3. 3

    Heat oil in a pan.

  4. 4

    Add asafoetida and mustard paste and stir occassionaly in a low flame.

  5. 5

    Add red chilli powder,turmeric powder and sugar and mix well

  6. 6

    Switch off the gas.

  7. 7

    Add vinegar and mix well.Your mustard sauce is ready
