Steps
- 1
Melt 1/2 stick of butter in a skillet. Add sliced onions & saute until lightly browned. Remove from skillet & set aside.
- 2
In same skillet, melt 3 tbs of butter. Brown pork. Season with 1/2 the salt &pepper.
- 3
With butter, grease a casserole dish. Spread 1/2 the potato slices to make a layer on the bottom. Spread with successive layers of pork, cabbage & onions.
- 4
Spread layer of rest of potatoes on top. Dot with rest of the butter and sprinkle the remaining salt & pepper. Sprinkle caraway seeds over the top.
- 5
Pour chicken broth down sides of casserole so it doesn't wash off the butter & seasonings.
- 6
Cover the casserole & place in a 375°F oven and bake for 1 hour.
- 7
Remove the cover from the casserole & bake for an additional 30 minutes to reduce the stock and brown the top.
- 8
Serve. It's yummy!
