Ingredients

12 servings
  1. 1/4 cupSugar
  2. 5 cupSelf-rising Flour
  3. 2 cupButtermilk
  4. 1/2 cupWater
  5. 1 cupVegetable Shortening (melted and cooled)
  6. 1 tspBaking Powder
  7. 1 dashSalt

    Preheat oven to 450°F

  2. 2

    Mix dry ingredients together in a large bowl. Make a divot in the center of the mixture.

  3. 3

    Pour wet ingredients into the divot in the dry ingredients.

  4. 4

    Cut the mixtures together until barely mixed. Do not over mix.

  5. 5

    Pour batter onto flour dusted surface, lightly roll to about an inch thick.

  6. 6

    Cut into circles and place on a baking sheet.

  7. 7

    Let dough sit for 5 minutes before putting them in the oven.

  8. 8

    Bake 10-15 minutes, until golden brown.

  9. 9

    Brush with melted butter after removing from oven.
