Cabbage and Shrimp Patties, Mario's Style

I made these cabbage patties by accident because I asked for cauliflower, but at the market they gave me cabbage instead. So I thought, oh well, I'll make cabbage patties. I wondered how to grate it—using a knife would take too long. So I squeezed the cabbage in my hand and started grating it. The more I grated, the more I figured it out. If you end up with large pieces that fall off, just remove them and either discard or grate them again if possible.

First, grate the cabbage. It might seem tricky, but hold it in your palm and grate as best you can.

Add the ground shrimp, flour, breadcrumbs, chicken bouillon powder, cumin, salt, and eggs.

Mix everything together well with clean hands and start forming the patties.

Place the patties in a skillet with hot oil.

Cook on both sides until fully cooked, then transfer to a plate.

Separately, make a sauce by blending the tomatoes, half an onion, and two cloves of garlic. Bring to a boil and add salt to taste.

Let the sauce cool, then add the patties to it.

Serve with rice.
