Pithe puli is specially made during winter season Poush Sankranti, but can be equally made during any vrat. Tastes best with winter season's first date palm jagger y or patali gur and in other seasons with sugar.
Steps

Make a stuffing with scraped coconut.Boil jaggery or sugar in little water till it dissolves completely. Add the coconut and toss till sticky.Add crumbled khowa,mix well.Set aside to cool.

Boil and mash sweet potatoes.They should not be over boiled. Add some flour and mash well.Make balls and stuff each one with coconut khowa stuffing.Give it a boat shape and roll over some dry flour.Set aside.

Boil the milk till it's half the consistency.Add jaggery or sugar and boil.Carefully dip the dumplings in the boiling kheer one by one.Give it a boil and garnish with scraped coconut.
