Ingredients

3 to 4 servings
  • 1/4 kgSemolina (Rava/Suji) (roasted)
  • 4Green Chillies (cut into small peices)
  • 1Red Chilli (broken into 2/3 pieces)
  • 1 string Curry Leaves (kadipatha) cut into small peices
  • 1 pcGinger finely chopped
  • 1/4 tspChana Dal little
  • 1/4 tspUrad Dal little
  • 1/4 tspMustard (Rayee) little
  • 6-7Broken Cashews (optional)
  • pinchAsofetida (Hing) Powder: little
  • 6 tspOil
  • 1 tspSugar
  • 2 tspGhee
  • To tasteSalt
  • as neededVegetables : Cut Onion (2 medium), Scraped Carrot (1 medium), Peas (1 handful), Tomatoes, Capsicum, Cabbage (optional)
  • 4 glasses or required Hot water according to the quantity of Semolina (Rava)

Steps

  1. 1

    Take frying pan. When hot add oil. Then put Green and Red chillies, Curry Leaves, Ginger and all the above mentioned Dals, Mustard Seeds and Asofetida powder.

  2. 2

    After the Mustard seeds splutter and the Dals become golden brown, add the Vegetables and the roasted Semolina (Rava). Mix well. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Add the Hot water with your left hand while mixing with right hand. There should be more water than the Semolina.

  4. 4

    Mix well. Add 2 taps of Ghee. Garnish with chopped Coriander leaves and serve hot with Coconut chutney.
