Ingredients

30 minutes
4 servings
  1. 3 cupsall purpose fllour
  2. 1tabespoon nutmeg
  3. 1 tablespooncinnamon
  4. 1 cupmillk
  5. 1 teaspoonbaking powder
  6. 1/8 tablespoonsalt
  7. 4 tablespoonsugar
  8. 3 tablespoonbutter
  9. 2eggs

Steps

30 minutes
  1. 1

    Sift flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Add cinnamon and nutmeg. Set aside

  2. 2

    Melt butter. Add to milk and beaten egg

  3. 3

    Pour wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix with a wooden spoon until everything is well combined

  4. 4

    Knead the dough with your hands until the dough becomes smooth but firm

  5. 5

    Set aside for 30 minutes

  6. 6

    Take dough and divide into 4. Take one of the dough and roll it to your desired thickness. Use sharp knife to cut small or medium squares. Repeat until all the dough is finished

  7. 7

    Heat large deep bottomed pan with oil. Once oil is hot enough put the mandazi dough into the oil few at a time. Fry until golden brown

  8. 8

    Remove from heat and set on kitchen paper towel lined bowl to soak excess oil

  9. 9

    Once all the mandazi have cooked,let cool and sprinkle with generous amount of icing sugar. Serve with hot masala tea!
